June newsletter – transitions for Don and Leslie!

ESL-Leslie-smallOur June newsletter covers the current real estate trends we’ve been seeing this summer but also covers the transition Don and I are in the process of starting for next year!

As part of that transition, we’ve begun teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) to adult students at the Adult Center on Ventura Avenue on Wednesday evenings.

We also talk about the crazy market where we “only” had about a dozen offers on a recent open house!

“Do I have my listening ears on”?

Our January newsletter touches on a lesson I had to be reminded of about how easy it is to miss something of great value!

It centers on a $1.5 million Stradivarius, the man who’s playing it, and where it’s being played.

Plus (of course) we keep you abreast about current real estate trends in west county. Enjoy!

Don’s trip to New Orleans doing FEMA inspections after hurricane Isaac

In our September 2012 newsletter to clients and friends, Don wrote about his recent trip down to New Orleans to assist in doing inspections on behalf of FEMA for people hurt by hurricane Isaac.  But what he really enjoyed was an unannounced trip back to Pascagoula, Mississippi, to visit some people he had met after Katrina, and to hear their stories 6 years later.

See a different side of Don from his “day” job!

June newsletter – high tech solar eclipse watching & tribute to former Tiger Moth students

Our June “high tech” solar eclipse newsletter maybe uses a bit of poetic license, but hey – at some point in history, weren’t shoe boxes considered “high tech”?!?

I inform our friends and clients about Bank of America’s newly announced relocation assistance program (up to $30,000) and tell about an investor client’s offer last week – 15 bids!

On the back, Don – a Navy vet – reflects on seeing a Memorial Day program a couple weeks ago and how it caused him to want to say “Thank You” to former students who worked with him on the Tiger Moth and have gone on to serve our country.

Enjoy our newsletter!

April newsletter – reflections from Wired magazine

In our April, 2012 newsletter, Don writes about two articles from April’s Wired magazine that really intrigued him – and it wasn’t about the new super secret NSA building in the Utah desert!

The first was about the Stanford professor who put his graduate AI course online – and got 160,000 students from around the world taking his class!

The second was how the internet, and more specifically reddit.com, changed a man from his “day job” into a Hollywood screenwriter.
